Smart HID bulbs out perform* standard halogen bulbs by 3 to 1 by producing a daylight balanced light, which is measured as white light. The measurement used for calculating the purity of the light source is Colour Temperature, which is a measured in Degrees Kelvin (k) and reflects the colours of the spectrum, 'k' indicates the hue of a specific type of light source. A standard krypton bulb produces a Colour Temperature (CT) of 2000k and is in the Red zone of purity,. the halogen bulb produces a CT of around 3000k (Yellow zone) whilst the average noon day sun is measured at 5500k and is measured as white light. The Entity HID gives a CT value of 5200k which is a very pure light and this makes it one of the most effective cycling lighting sources available. * An HID light will last, on the average, 3 to 5 times as long as a halogen bulb. * A 10watt HID light is the equivalent of 35watts of halogen lighting
